Indian bowlers are exciting, a coach needs experience:Cooley
Chennai, June 29 (UNI) Oz bowling coach Troy Cooley today said his Indian counterpart, the former medium pacer, Venkatesh Prasad will do a good job in his new role too and the current Indian pacers were coming together very well.
''Munaf(Patel) and Irfan(Pathan) are exciting bowlers'', Cooley said, however parried when asked if he would accept an offer to be coach for Team India.
''I am happy with the assignment I have on hand at present'', he said, smiling.
Cooley said a bowling coach has to have good experience and understanding of his wards. '' If you want to change some aspect in a bowler, you have to understand what you are changing'', he pointed out.
Asked what as the coach he would take to tackle the problem of recurring injuries to fast bowlers, Cooley said that was a tough task. A bowler has to have the right action that suits his body.
''You have to monitor the workload of a bowler also'', he averred.
Talking to newspersons at the MRF Pace Foundation here where he is guiding the Aussie speedster Mitchel Johnson, when asked if he preferred the idea of rotating a pool of bowlers in the team, Cooley said that was the selectors prerogative. ''It's the individual preferrence of the teams. But it is not always possible as bowlers get injured.
Asked if he thought that frequent injuries to bowlers was due to excess cricket, Cooley said the coach has to find out the threshold of pressure on a bowler. ''If you expose them to unacceptable workloads, problems surface'', he said.
