India take a 4-2 lead against Pak in Ravi Kirloskar trophy
New Delhi, April 13 (UNI) India took a commanding 4-2 lead over hosts Pakistan at the end of the opening day of prestigious Ravi Kirloskar Trophy Golf 2007 at the Islamabad Golf Club today.
According to the news reaching here, defending champions India who had less than nine holes of practice, were spearheaded by the leading amateurs Simarjeet Singh and Joseph and Chakola Anirban Lahiri and Jasjeet Singh who paired to win their respective matches in the Four-ball better ball' format to put India 2-0 in the top category.
Amit Luthra and Vinay Goel playing in the over-40 category, made it 3-0 in India's favour. However compatriots Rajendra Dutta and Yogesh Chopra lost their match with the score still in India's favour 3-1.
In the over 50-category, Vijay Kumar and Vikramjit Singh lost their match to the legendary pro from Pakistan Taimur Hassan and his partner which reduced India's lead to 3-2.
However the other team in the same category Sanjeev Talwar and IPS Mann kept the Indian flag flying high with a victory in almost pitch darkness to make it 4-2 for India.
