India-Lebanon match put off due to inclement weather

Chennai, Oct 28 (UNI) Inclement weather due to deep depression forced the postponement of the home match between India and Lebanon in the World Cup 2010 qualifying match at the Nehru stadium, to tomorrow.

Announcing the postponement after the referees examined the playing condition, following heavy rains, match Commissioner Rendeni Gamini said as per the FIFA rules the match had to be played the next day.

''If tomorrow also the weather does not permit, the FIFA will decide whether it should be postponed the next day or the venue has to be shifted,'' he said.

India had lost the away match 1-4 in Beirut.
