India elects to field vs Ireland: Mumbai's Rohit makes debut

Belfast, June 23 (UNI) Mumbai bat Rohit Sharma made his ODI debut in the one-off match against hosts Ireland as India captain Rahul Dravid won the toss and elected to field first.

Wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik will keep wickets as Mahendra Singh Dhoni has picked up an injury, while Zaheer Khan has been left out of the XI.

Legspinner Piyush Chawla also gets a look-in against a depleted Ireland side, with World Cup bowling heroes Boyd Rankin, Andre Botha and Dave Langford-Smith and Middlesex batsman Eoin Morgan all missing out.

Only seven members of the squad that beat Pakistan in the World Cup will play but its skipper Trent Johnston is not overly worried.

The teams are: India: Sourav Ganguly, Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid (capt), Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Piyush Chawla, Ajit Agarkar, RP Singh and Sreesanth.

Ireland: William Porterfield, Kenny Carroll, Dominick Joyce, Niall O'Brien (wk), Gary Wilson, Andrew White, Kevin O'Brien, Thinus Fourie, Trent Johnston (capt), Roger Whelan, Kyle McCallan.

Umpires : Mark Benson and Billy Bowden UNI
