India beat Pak to retain Ravi Kirloskar Trophy
New Delhi, Apr 15 (UNI) India defeated Pakistan by two points to successfully defend the Ravi Kirloskar Trophy India-Pakistan Golf 2007 which concluded today at the Islamabad Golf Club in the Pakistani capital.
According to the news reaching here, the teams shared six points each in the final round which was played according to the ''Singles Matchplay'' format.
The final score line showed 13-11 in India's favour. India had won the title in Bangalore in the last edition.
The Indian victory was spearheaded by the National amateurs Anirban Lahiri, Jasjeet Singh and Simarjeet Singh who all won their matches in the top category. Joseph Chakola was the sole loser.
In the over-40 category, former Asian golf medalist Amit Luthra and Rajendra Dutta won their respective matches while Vinay Goel and Yogesh Chopra both went down fighting.
India suffered the most in the over 50-category with three of its players -- Vijay Kumar, Sanjeev Talwar and IPS Mann losing their matches. The only win in this category was secured by Vikramjit Singh.
India will host the next edition of the Ravi Kirloskar Trophy which is played on reciprocal basis.
