IGU to explore new avenues in promoting golf
Pune, Jan 22 (UNI) Having performed creditably by capturing two silver medals in the Doha Asian Games, the Indian Golf Union (IGU) has decided to not only get the much needed sponsorship but also tap talent from among amateur golfers.
Talking to UNI, IGU member Anil Sheolekar said maximum stress will be devoted towards the promotion of golfers from the school.
Elaborating further, Mr Sheolekar said Poona Club, having the best golf course, has already started capturing talents from the school.
This has given the club a new dimension as Taran Ghogale, a Pune boy has made his mark among top amateur golfers in the country.
''I am really sad that despite having provided the maximum facilities to the youngsters from the school and colleges, the city has not made the mark in the National and International circuit'', he said.
