ICF defeats CPT

Chennai, June 5 (UNI) Local outfit Integral Coach Factory (ICF) defeated Cochin Port Trust in five tough games in the men's inaugural Group A match of the Rs 1.5 lakh St Joseph's P John Memorial All India Volleyball tournament here this evening.

In a roller, coaster encounter, both the teams fought hard ICF led 2-1 and was leading in the 21-19 in the third, before the portmen from Kochi staged a gallant fight back and stretched the contest to the decider.

The lead kept changing ends, before ICF kept their cool at crunch moments to pull off a pulsating victory. ICF finally won 25-18, 12-25, 25-16, 25-27, 15-13 in about 100 minutes and gained full points.

In the women's section, GKM Volleyball Club defeated St Joseph's College of Engineering 25-21, 25-20 in Group A to win full points.

Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Chennai City Police Commissioner Ms Letika Saran in the presence of Volleyball Federation of India President Dr B Sivanthi Adityan and Chief COmmissioner of Income-Tax A.Selvaraj.

UNI
