IAF blank Indian National 2-0 to clinch Senior Division League
New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) Former champions Indian Air Force (New Delhi) blanked Indian National Football Club to clinch the ONGC-SAIL DSA Senior division club football league championship here today.
E Thomas opened the account for Air Force in the 37th minute to lead his team the lead going into the lemon break.
After changing ends, inside-right V K Singh joined the party, pumping in another one to seal the fate of their rivals.
The Air Force team won all the three super-four round-robin league matches to pocket nine points while indian National collected four points from three matches to finish second.
In another thrilling encounter, Garhwal Heroes FC held walled-city giants City Football Club 3-3 draw to split points and ended up on the third place while City Club languished at the fourth spot.
The IAF pocketed a cool Rs one lakh while second-placed Indian National had to be content with half the winners amount. Garhwal heroes and City FC received 25,000 each.
City FC's Musi Banadebayo found the net eight times to emerge as the hishest scorer while IAF's Kalyan Pal and Anil Kumar was adjuged the best forward and best goal-keeper respectively.
