Hyderabad Games Gold medallist dies in accident

New Delhi, Feb 13 (UNI) Hyderabad National Games gold medallist Sunny Sarkaria, who sustained serious injuries in a car accident last Friday, died at Balaji Hospital here today.

Sarkaria was in a state of coma ever since the accident which occurred when his car skidded and overturned while he was returning from Panipat to Delhi.

A Delhi University law student, Sunny was a promising sprinter and had won a Gold medal in the 4x100m relay at the Hyderabad National Games in 2002.

The athlete was included in Delhi relay team for the ongoing Guwahati National Games but he chose to stay back to cope with the academic pressure.
