Humpy beats Shen Chen to enter semis of World chess championship

Nalchik, Russia, Sep 9 (UNI) Koneru Humpy defeated Shen Shen of China to enter the semifinals of the Women's World chess championship here.

Playing with black pieces, Humpy employed the Semi Slav Defence to overcome Shen Shen in 42 moves. She had earlier beaten the Chinese in the first game and qualifies for the last four stage with a 2-0 lead.

The second seeded Humpy will now face third seed Hou Yifan, also of China, who defeated Armenia's Lilit Mkrchian 1.5-0.5 in the second game.
