HPCL All India Indoor Games tournament in Goa from tomorrow

Panaji, Sep 8 (UNI) Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limted (HPCL) has organised a two-day 3rd All India Inter Unit Indoor games tournament at SAG indoor stadium Campal from tomorrow.

The General Manager HRD, A B Pai speaking to Media persons here today said 180 players from four zones Mumbai Refinary, Viskh Refinery, Marketing office and Corporate office will be participating in the five events- Bridge, Badminton, Chess, Carrom and Table Tennis.

He said sports have assumed great significance in all aspects of life and with an aim to provide an opportunity for more employees to participate in sport tournament and show their talent, HPCL has organised indoor games.

Pai also said HPCL has taken several measures to promote sports in the corporation. In the past, the corporation offered employment to a number of national players in different games. In addition, HPCL also proposes to take up adoption of young players in the age group of 12-15 years in various sports disciplines and provide them the necessary financial assistance to grow to the international standards.

The tournament will be inaugurated by M A Tankiwala, Director (Refineries) of HPCL.
