Hooda hails Haryana boxers

Chandigarh, Aug 18 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today appreciated the efforts of Haryana's three boxers for reaching the quarter finals in Bejing Olympics and assured them all support of the state government in further improving their skill.

''It is for the first time that the boxers have reached this level in Olympics,'' the Chief Minister said while interacting with media persons after watching quarterfinal of boxing event which Akhil Kumar of Haryana lost to Gojan Veaceslav of Moldova.

He hoped that other two boxers who had also reached quarter finals would win medals for the country.

The State Government has already decided to give a cash reward of Rs two crore to that sportsperson who would win gold medal at Olympics. A reward of Rs one crore would be given for winning Silver medal and Rs 50 lakh for bronze.
