Hindu Gym marker Divekar shocks fancied Jain

Mumbai, Aug 13 (UNI) P J Hindu Gymkhana marker Milind Divekar stunned formidable Manish Jain in the billiards first round in the Wilson Jones Open Handicap Billiards&Snooker Championship at the P J Hindu Gymkhana here today.

Divekar (+100) fashioned the upset of the day when he overcame West Bengal's Jain (scr) 200-115. Divekar's consistency proved decisive as Jain struggled to find his touch on yet another day of upsets.

Divekar's win triggered a slew of casualties as fancied cueists made premature exits.

In other surprise verdicts, Harold Sylvester (+100) of Catholic Gymkhana got past P J Hindu Gymkhana's Kirit Rayani (+80) 200-171 in the second round, while Manoj Kasare (+70) of Khar Gymkhana overcame Satish Karad (+60) of Deccan Gymkhana, Pune 200-165 in the first round.

Vaibhav Sharma (+55) fashioned the solitary upset in snooker when he beat Viraf Bhesania (+45) 114-69, 102-71 in the second round.
