High powered committee on NIS holds meeting

Patiala, Mar 13 (UNI) The twelve-member high powered committee, formed by the Union Sports ministry, met here today at the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports (NIS) to review the functioning of the NIS and its upgradation.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of UGC Vice Chairman, Prof Moolchand Sharma, The meeting decuded to form three sub-committees 'for follow up action. The members of the sub-committees will be known within a week, according to a member of the high powered committee.

The Director General of Sports Authority of India, Ratan P Wattal, who is also a member of the high powered committee, was also present in the meeting.

The convener of the high powered committee, Mr L S Ranawat, Executive Director of the NIS, was not available for more details.

The next meeting of the high powered committee is likely to be held at the NIS on April 20.
