'Haydos' has no immediate plans of hanging his boots
Melbourne, May 1 (UNI) Australian batsman Matthew Hayden has said he is in no hurry to follow the footsteps of Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath for atleast one year, as he wants to help his team usher in the next generation players.
"This side wants to stay together for a little bit longer. I think we've got a job to do within cricket just to try and set it up for the next stage of Australian cricket," Hayden told 'The Herald Sun'.
Hayden who was once uncertain in the squad, eventually ended up as the highest run-getter in the world cup, scoring 659 runs at an average of 73.22 with the help of three centuries and a fifty.
The southpaw also wanted his opening partner and World Cup final hero Adam Gilchrisht to stay around for at least another year.
"I don't think you'll see too many retirements, over the next 12 months anyway," the swashbuckling opener said.
Apart from the world Cup, Hayden also has other reasons to smile.
He is going to be the proud father for the third time and hence had to rush back home, cutting short his World Cup celebrations in the Caribbean, ahead of the impending birth of the child.
