Haryana to develop Panchkula Golf Club
Chandigarh, Mar 11 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said that premises of Golf Club at Panchkula would be developed and international standard facilities would be provided to the golf players to help them excel on the national and international levels.
These views were expressed by the Chief Minister while addressing the golf players after giving away the prizes to the winners of the matches played between the lawyers of Delhi and Chandigarh. The golf competition was organised by the Legal Fraternity Association Chandigarh at Panchkula.
The Chief Minister said that he himself had remained a keen sportsman. He said that now he was trying his best to practice the golf game so that he could become the member of the Legal Fraternity Association of Chandigarh.
He opined that this game required long practice at least four hours in a day. He expressed his desire to participate in the next golf meet of the Association.
While extending his greetings to the winning team of Chandigarh, Mr Hooda expressed the hope that the players would bring laurels in future by dint of their hard work and sincerity. He sought the views of the players so that this Golf Club could be developed to match international standards. He said that Haryana government was committed to promote sports in a big way so that the state players could brought laurels at the national and international level.
The Chief Minister gave away the prizes to Mr Gulshan Sharma for closet Pin, Mr S S Grewal for longest drive, Mr Arun Bhardwaj for state drive and Mr Mohinder Singh Patti for best net. Mr J P Singh of Delhi was adjudged over all gross champion while Santanu Puri remained overall champion.
President of Legal Fraternity Association and eminent lawyer Mr Rajiv Atma Ram said that this tournament was organised every year by the Association. As many as 42 players participated from Chandigarh and 30 from Delhi participated in the tournament.
