Haryana Police launching Mission 2010 C'Wealth Games

Chandigarh, July 3 (UNI) The Haryana Police will soon launch its 'Mission Success 2010 Commonwealth Games and Beyond.' The basic aim of the Mission Success is that Haryana Police sportspersons should make a major contribution to the National sports pool for the 2010 Commonwealth Games, the Asian Games and the Olympic Games.

Organisation of a workshop to discuss status of sports in Haryana Police and strategy to improve sports standards on July 6 at Madhuban will be the first step in this direction.

According to Director General of Police R S Dalal, the workshop would be attended by the Director General of Police, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) V B Singh, Inspector General S S Sandhu, Inspector General of Police R C Mishra (Crime), Commandants of Haryana Armed Forces, Madhuban, Indian Reserve Battalion and Director Haryana Armed Police Academy V N Rai.

Experts of various sports disciplines would also be invited to the workshop. Besides, the Haryana Olympic Association would be involved in the prestigious project.

''Recruitment of outstanding sportspersons in Haryana Police would be on priority in various sports disciplines which have been already identified where abundant talent is available. The Haryana sportspersons stand a good chance of bringing laurels to the department, the state and the country by winning medals in recognised international competitions,'' said Mr Dalal, who is also Working President of the Indian Amateur Boxing Association.

The DGP said out of 4000 new jobs in the Haryana Police, 300 talented sportspersons would be appointed under the three per cent quota reserved for sportspersons. Nine Inspectors and 20 Sub-Inspectors would be among the 300 jobs to be provided to the Haryana sportsmen.

The sports disciplines identified in which the Haryana sportspersons could excel are wrestling (state game), kabaddi, volleyball, football, basketball, hockey, athletics, swimming, gymnastics, cycling, boxing, weightlifting, judo and table tennis.
