Haryana maintain winning spree in Federation Cup korfball

Chandigarh, May 25 (UNI) Defending champions Haryana maintained their winning spree as they routed Himachal Pradesh 28-5 for their third successive win from three outings in the Federation Cup korfball tournament being held at the Punjab University Complex here today.

Monika and Pardeep who contributed six goals each showed excellent combination to fashion Haryana's win. Seema sank three baskets.

Runners-up in the last edition, Jammu and Kashmir just managed to down a fighting Uttar Pradesh by 10-9. It was J&K's second win from two matches. Uttar Pradesh faced their first defeat in three outings.

J&K's Manjit(3), Amit(2) and Irfan (2) were the main scorers for the winners. Sushant waged a lone battle for Uttar Pradesh by scoring four goals.

Andhra Pradesh defeated Chattisgarh by 18-9. Parveen Kumar, who lost to Haryana in their opening match yesterday, top scored with four goals, he was well supported by Rahul and Daniel who got three goals each. Nikhlesh Sharma and Uttkal Bhatt made three goals each for Chattisgarh.

Andhra Pradesh (Siridhe 2, Somlata 2, Afzal 1, Hafeeza 2, Rahul 3, Praveen Kumar 4, Shalini 1, Daniel 3) bt Chattisgarh (Nikhlesh Sharma 3, Uttkal Bhatt 3, Sangeeta 1, Raj Kumar 1) by 18-9.

Delhi (Rajesh 4, Tejeshwi 2, Umesh 2, Isha 2, Meena 2) bt Chandigarh (Nikhil 2, Gugly 3, Sandeep 2, Pooja 1, Harmanjot 2) by 12-10.

Haryana (Monika Rathi 1, Seema 3, Shalini 1, Monika 6, Pardeep 6, Kuldeep 2, Parveen Dhayal 4, Paramjit 1) bt Himachal Pradesh (Vishal 1, Vinod 1, Gevi Kant 2, Bindu 1) by 28-5.
