Haryana continue domination in sub junior wrestling

Chandigarh, May 27 (UNI) Haryana made a clean sweep by winning all the four medals at stake in the Greco-Roman style competitions on the second day of the 26th Boys and 10th Girls Sub-Junior National Wrestling Championship at Anandpur Sahib today.

Haryana has so far four gold, one silver and two broze medals in Greco-Roman style.

Navneet (46 kg), Vikram (58 kg), Sunil (76 kg) and Rakesh (85 kg) claimed gold medals for Haryana. Navneet defeated Naresh Kumar of Uttar Pradesh in the final. Vikram accounted for Parveen of Delhi in 58 kg final. Sunil outpointed Ajay Kumar of Uttar Pradesh in the 76 kg class. Rakesh gave Haryana the gold in the 85 kg section by beating Kiran Varpe of Maharashtra.

Haryana also won gold medal when Parvesh defeated Sandeep Kumar of Services Sports Control Board in the 85 kg class.

The Haryana girls also did not lag behind as they have so far lifted three top positions. Kanta got the better of Jyoti S of Chandigarh in the 49 kg class final. On day one, Pooja (38 kg) and Shakshi Malik (56 kg) had bagged gold medals in the girls freestyle competitons. Moni Rani (40 kg) and Anshu Tomar (60 kg) are the other gold medal winners in the girls section for Haryana. M A Sharani Chanu (Manipur, 70 kg) and Priyanka (46 kg, Chandigarh) captured one gold each.

58 kg: 1 Vikram (Haryana), 2 Parveen (Delhi), 3 Deepak (Chandigahr) and Sagar Patil (Maharashtra).

76 kg: 1 Sunil (Haryana), 2 Ajay Kumarw (UP), 3 Bharat Liman (Maharashtra) and Sunil Kumar (Nagaland).

85 kg: 1 Rakesh (Haryana), 2 Kiran Varpe (Maharashtra), 3 Jitender (Rajasthan) and Anil Kumar (Manipur).

Freestyle: 46 kg: 1 Nitin (Punjab), 2 Praveen (Delhi), 3 Harphool (Nagaland) and Sachin Patil (SSCB).

58 kg: 1 Rahul Aware (Maharashtra), 2 Bipin (Delhi), 3 Sateesh Kumar (Punjab) and Suresh Kumar (Haryana).
