Harrington ends 25-year wait with playoff win over Dredge
ADARE, Ireland, May 20 (Reuters) Padraig Harrington won a sudden-death playoff against Briton Bradley Dredge today to end a long-standing record by becoming the first home winner of the Irish Open for 25 years.
Harrington, facing an extraordinary 31st second place worldwide, needed a par at the first extra hole to dispose of the obdurate Dredge, when both finished on five-under 283, four strokes ahead of the field.
