Hair returns, Srinath named Match Referee for Mombasa tri-series

Dubai, Jan 15 (UNI) Former Team India spearhead Javagal Srinath has been named Match Referee for the January 17-24 tri-series in Mombasa involving Kenya, Scotland and Canada.

Meanwhile, ICC also announced the list of umpires for the six-match tri-series which include controversial Darrell Hair, Ian Gould from the Emirates International Panel of ICC Umpires and Buddhi Pradhan from the ICC Associates and Affiliates Umpires Panel.

''The inclusion of Darrell Hair in these appointments follows the decision of the ICC Executive Board in November 2006 not to appoint him to future matches involving Full Members,'' the ICC said in a statement here.

The ICC also named officials for the inaugural ICC World Cricket League Division 1 in Nairobi -- a tournament involving the six top Associate countries - Kenya, Scotland, Ireland, Canada, Bermuda and Netherlands - all of which will be participating in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 in the West Indies.

Roshan Mahanama from the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees will oversee the tournament.

Umpires for the tournament include Darrell Hair, Gary Baxter, Nadir Shah and Tyron Wijewardena from the Emirates International Panel of ICC Umpires and Roger Dill and the Shahul Hameed and Subhash Modi duo from the ICC Associates and Affiliates Umpires Panel.

The top two teams from the ICC World Cricket League Division 1 will qualify for the inaugural ICC Twenty20 World Championships in South Africa in September.
