Gulf Dirt Track National Championship in Bhopal

Bhopal, Mar 1 (UNI) The two-day long Gulf Dirt Track National Championship involving two-wheelers, gets underway in this city of Lakes on April 7.

''The five-stage championship, being organised by Chennai's Federation of Motor Sports Club and the Bhopal Automobile Sports Club, will showcase 10 events, 7 of which will be in the championship category. The non-championship category will comprise a scooter event and two local competitions,'' organising committee chairman Shreekant Karani said here today.

In Group A of the Indian Experts and Private Experts Category, both two and four-stroke Indian made 260 cc bikes will take part, while Group B will be for foreign motorcycles with similar characteristics. The Novice Category will have two-stroke motorcycles of 80 to 150 cc and four-stroke motorcycles of 125 to 160-cc respectively. Scooters of 110 cc will feature in Group D of the non-championship category, while local competitions will witness motorcycles of 160 cc and 80 to 150 cc.

''The ultimate victor will receive a trophy and Rs 2.5 lakh.

Every category's winner will also get a trophy and Rs 85,000,'' Karani added.
