Gujarat's Providence Club to take part in Kanga Cup in Australia

Vadodara, Jun 30 (UNI) Providence, the champion under-15 football club of Gujarat, has been selected for an Asian Fellowship to participate in the McDonald's Kanga Cup football tournament to be held in Canberra, the capital of Australia, from July 8.

A 15-member team under the captainship of Akshay Mali, a class IX student of Baroda High School, is scheduled to leave for Australia on July 6.

About 170 youth teams from all over the world are expected to participate in the 8-day long Kanga Cup tournament, the oldest and biggest youth football tournament held in Australia.

Talking to reporters here today, team manager Sadanand Satyajit said the Providence Football Club of Gujarat was the first Asian team to get selected for this fellowship and expressed optimism, that the team which performed well in the Manchester United-Nike National Club Championship held in Mumbai in January this year, would give a good display of their performance in Australia.
