Greek police use teargas against fans storming stadium
ATHENS, May 23 (Reuters) Greek police in riot gear fired teargas at about 100 fans trying to storm a shut stadium gate shortly before the Champions League final between Liverpool and AC Milan today, a Reuters eyewitness said.
The fans, mostly British, who did not have tickets, attempted to break down the stadium gate but Greek police pushed them back with batons and several rounds of teargas.
There were no immediate injuries or arrests.
More than 50,000 English and Italian fans have arrived in Athens for the final, many of them without tickets. Black-market prices had soared to more than 5,000 euros for a ticket.
