Grand Prix Super Series begins Sep 4: APBA

Tirupati, May 13 (UNI) The Grand Prix Gold Super Series International Olympic qualifying event will be held at KVBR Indoor Stadium at Hyderabad from September 4 to 9, Andhra Pradesh Badminton Association (APBA) Secretary Punnaiah Chowdary said here today.

Speaking to the press, Mr Chowdary said the World Badminton Federation (WBF) sanctioned the tournament and all top ranked players in the world would participate inthe 1.50 lakh dollar event which is being held in India for the first time.

Denying any rift between the association and the players, he said doors were open for coaching camps to all players, in Hyderabad.

Elite camps for preparation for the 2010 Commonwealth Games and preparatory camps for all international events will be held at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad, he said.

Besides Super Series, the APBA will conduct five state championships, a south zone (inter-state) and two national championships for 2007-2008, he added.
