Gough fears reality show partcipation may cost World Cup berth
London, Feb 6 (UNI) Darren Gough fears his appearance in the reality TV show 'Strictly Come Dancing' and pullout from last winter's tour of Pakistan and India may cost him a return to the England team for next month's World Cup in West Indies.
Gough, who was left out of the original 30-member list of World Cup probables, has suddenly jumped into contention following England's horrific run in the ODIs.
England's most experienced bowler feels he was made to believe that missing the trip to sub-continent was not an issue for the selectors but their subsequent attitude suggested otherwise.
''I'd like to think pulling out of the tour to Pakistan wasn't held against me. I think it is, but I'd like to think it wasn't. I pulled out for my reason and people know that reason. I pulled out for one reason only and that was to stay home with my kids,'' Gough was quoted as saying by 'The Mirror'.
Criticising England Chairman of selectors David Graveney, the pacer revealed that he was forced to play with injury during last summer's series against Pakistan and said he was miffed with the way his omission from the World Cup was handled by the ECB.
The 36-year-old has already received an apology from Graveney, who sent a text message to inform the pacer about his omission, for the mistreatment.
