Gopi Ram emerges winner in safe-driving event for truckers
Mumbai, Mar 12 (UNI) Gopi Ram Jat (Delhi) and Lal Bahadur Tiwari (Chennai) secured the first and second positions respectively in the trucking segment in Castrol India Limited-sponsored national finals of the India leg of the International Driving championship.
The championship, a global multi-pronged initiative by the British Petroleum Group, is aimed at promoting and enhancing safe driving practices amongst employees, contractors and other stakeholders of the company.
The championship, flagged off by Castrol India Ltd Director (Supply Chain) Adnan Ahmad, at the Hakone Go-carting track at Powai recently, saw Amlaan Mukherjee (Gurgaon) and Amit Jha (Goa) secured the first and second positions respectively in the passenger car segment.
The winners will now participate in the regional finals, to be held in May at Dubai, while the global finals will be held in October in Las Vegas, USA, a release stated here today.
Around 32 contestants in the trucking segment and 14 contestants from the passenger car segment participated in the final event after coming through the qualifying rounds held across the country. The competition includes several tests of skill and control including serpentine, parking into an alley, parallel parking and speed control, the release added.
