Golf: Rory McIlroy to play DP World India Championship in Delhi in October 2026

There is good news for golf fans in India! Rory McIlroy will return to India for the DP World India Championship 2026 at Delhi Golf Club. The five-time Major winner is set to play from October 15 to 18.

The World No.2 is confirmed his return for the USD 4,000,000 tournament at the iconic venue in the national capital. The Northern Irishman played the event for the first time last season.

The tournament was launched in 2025 by DP World and the DP World Tour. It is co-sanctioned by the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI). Organisers said it carries the largest prize fund for a DP World Tour event in India. The event is scheduled to be staged again at the Delhi Golf Club.

DP World India Championship schedule and 2026 Race to Dubai

The DP World India Championship will be the eighth of nine events in the Back Nine phase. That run forms part of the 2026 Race to Dubai. It builds towards the season-ending DP World Tour Play-Offs. The sequence ends with the DP World Tour Championship in November. The finale is held at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai.

McIlroy’s return follows a landmark year at Augusta National last year. The Green Jacket sealed a career Grand Slam for McIlroy. It also added to four earlier Major titles. Those wins came at the 2011 U.S. Open, the US PGA Championship in 2012 and 2014, and The Open in 2014.

DP World India Championship field led by Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood

Alongside McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood has also confirmed a spot in the field. Fleetwood is the 2025 winner of the event. Fleetwood is also world No.4 and the reigning FedExCup champion. The confirmations set up a strong line-up for the October tournament in Delhi.

"I've always enjoyed playing a global schedule so I was excited to visit India for the first time last season to be part of the inaugural DP World India Championship, McIroy said in a press release."

McIlroy’s 2025 season also included success on both sides of the Atlantic. McIlroy won a second Amgen Irish Open title. McIlroy also picked up two more PGA TOUR victories. McIlroy was part of Europe’s Ryder Cup team at Bethpage Black, New York. Europe earned their first away win since 2012.

McIlroy ended 2025 as the Race to Dubai champion again. It was McIlroy’s seventh time winning the title. It was also McIlroy’s fourth consecutive Race to Dubai crown. The run helped keep McIlroy near the top of the world rankings during the season.

DP World India Subcontinent Country Manager Hemant Kumar Ruia linked the event to wider business goals. "This tournament reflects our long-term commitment to strengthening trade and connectivity across the region." The organisers positioned the championship as part of DP World’s work with the DP World Tour and PGTI.
