Gifts of Vijender, Akhil stolen

Guwahati, Sep 24 (UNI) The gifts and souvenirs presented to Beijing Olympic heroes Vijender Kumar and Akhil Kumar were stolen while they were inaugurating the Asian Women Boxing championship here.

''The gifts included the beautiful Xapi (Assamese headgear) which was given by the organisers last night,'' said Akhil.

Both the boxers discovered that their gifts were missing after they returned backstage.

Meanwhile, the pugilists were invited for a breakfast by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi where he presented a cheque of Rs five lakh to Vijender, the bronze medal winner in boxing in Beijing.
