Geet Sethi lifts Billiards National title
Bangalore, Jan 22 (UNI) After a gap of seven years, former World Champion Geet Sethi regained the billiards National crown by defeating Asian games gold medallist Pankaj Advani 1087-923 in an engrossing final in the Senior National Billiards and Snooker Championship played in the KSBA here today.
The 42-year-old Gujarati star, who had played with great poise right from the league phase, led right from the word go and kept the fighting Advani at bay till the end.
After taking more than 300 points lead in the first session (624-354), Geet seemed take things easy a little bit that led to 21-year-old Pankaj bounce back in the second session. However, experienced cueist never let Advani snatch the lead and won with some time to spare in the end.
Geet had breakes at 198 in the seventh visit, 113 in 13th visit, while Pankaj had only one break at 148 in 13th visit in the first session. In the second half Geet kept ahead with crucial breaks of 72 in 30th visit, 96 in 33rd and a 92 in 47th visit. Advani's efforts of 103 in 32nd visit, 97 in 41 and another 97 in 50th visit went in vein.
