Foundation stone for sports academy on April 13
Hyderabad, Apr 11 (UNI) Indian Volleyball Federation President Shivanti Adityan will lay the foundation stone for Shivanti Adityan Sports Academy's Training Centre at Guduru in Nellore district on April 13.
Addressing media here today, (SASF) chairman Kodanda Ramaiah said Indian Weightlifting Federation (IWF) president H J Dora will also grace the occasion.
''The first phase of the academy will begin functioning from September, 2007 and the second phase work will begin in January 2008,'' he said.
''The Sports Training Centre, being set up with the aim of producing more Olympic medalists, will have 18 meter high practice hall for Volleyball, a three-storey hostel building for housing 100 trainees, a 400 meter 8-lane athletic track with a football ground, 4 tennis courts and 9-hole golf courses for kids,'' Mr Ramaiah said.
''The basic aim of the academy is to produce Olympic medalists in Archery, Weightlifting, long distance running, swimming and Volleyball. We hope to achieve this in the year 2016,'' He added.
