Foreign coaches lack commitment: Abdul Qadir

Kozhikode Feb 25 (UNI) Expressing strong resentment over the trend of appointing foreign coaches Former Pakistan Left Arm Spinner Abdul Qadir alleged outside appointees 'had no commitment towards the team.' Talking to news persons here last night, Qadir, who was here to lead the Pakistan team in the veteran ODI series against India here today said foreign coaches looked for only material benefits and their commitment ended once they relinquished the posts.

Urging cricket boards in both India and Pakistan to appoint local coaches, he said they were many experts like Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Imran Khan and Javed Miandad who could groom the team pretty well.

They would be available for the team for advice even after completion of their tenure.

On the ensuing World Cup, he said the finals will be played between India and New Zealand.

Regarding Pakistan, Qadir said the team lacked in a few areas including bowling as Shoaib Akthar and Mohammed Asif could be excluded from the World Cup team at the last moment.

Injuries suffered by Umar Gul and Inzamam-ul-Haq could also prove detrimental to team's chances, he said.
