Florida event to make debut on 2007 PGA Tour

MIAMI, June 14 (Reuters) A new PGA Tour event will be held in Florida in late October, replacing the Running Horse Championship in Fresno, California, the Tour said today.

The Ginn Classic will be played on the Arnold Palmer-designed Tesoro Club layout in Port St Lucie from October 25-28 as part of the Tour's Fall Finish.

The Running Horse Championship lost its spot on the 2007 schedule after developers of Running Horse Golf&Country Club ran into financial problems.

''Fresno remains an attractive market for the PGA Tour but, in light of these issues, we will not be able to play there in 2007,'' PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem said in a statement.

''Our intention, as those issues become resolved, is for Fresno to be a part of the schedule again in 2008 and beyond.'' REUTERS SAM BD2200
