First ever Midnight Marathon on May 19

Bangalore, Apr 30 (UNI) The first ever Midnight Marathon, organised by Crossover Sports Private Limited jointly with the Rotary Bangalore IT Corridor, will be held at Whitefield, on the outskirts of the City, on May 19.

The full Marathon of 42.195 km, half Marathon 21.1 km and an IT City run of 5.4 km would be held on regular rules, according to International Marathon Coach Fung Wang Tak.

Talking to newsmen here, Crossover Director M Darshan said ''the event would have all the elements like grit, determination and courage of the Marathon mixed along with loads of fun, excitement and entertainment. There would be folk artists, musicians, fire eaters and many more cheer leaders who would complete the experience making this race, a must do for one and all''.

Replying to a question, he said that the Marathon carries a total prize money of Rs Three lakh with winner of full Marathon winning Rs 50,000. For second and third place the cash reward would be Rs 35,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively. The winner of Half Marathon would become richer by Rs 25,000, while second and third place would win Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.

Rotary Bangalore IT Corridor President Rajendra Misra said that the earnings from IT City run would be utilised for Charitable works. Race Director Neeraj Verma said, technically running at night is a good option as the ideal temperature to run a Marathon was 12 to 15 degree celsius.

IT major iGate has volunteered to host the race with marathon staring and ending in their campus.
