FA security chiefs probing Three Lions hotel shooting incident

London, June 9 (ANI): Football Association security chiefs are probing a shooting incident close to the England team's hotel.

Police opened fire after a high-speed car chase on the highway near the main entrance of the Royal Bafokeng Sports Campus in Rustenburg, South Africa.

The suspect, a drunken off-duty cop, was finally stopped and arrested half a mile from the heavily-guarded gates of the Three Lions' World Cup base.he alert came as it emerged that a 100-strong "A-Team" of former SAS soldiers and terrorist experts is guarding England's stars.

The security team - provided by South African authorities and the FA, who have hired their own firm of specialists - is the biggest ever for a World Cup. It comes after the tournament was deemed the riskiest ever - with the "very real" threat of terrorism and kidnap. (ANI)
