Fancied Rishi Tandon shocked

Mumbai, May 13 (UNI) Boys' under-15 seventh seed Rishi Tandon of Chennai crashed out in the second round of the Otters Million Open Squash Tournament at the Otters Club, Bandra, here today.

Fancied Tandon was taken by surprise as Vrishab Kotian surged to a crucial 2-0 lead. Tandon made a brilliant effort to stay alive when he clinched the third game over extra points. But he lost his way in the crucial fourth as Kotian scored a 9-4, 9-3, 8-10, 9-0 win.

In another close second round, Naman Jiandani rallied to a thrilling 3-9, 0-9, 9-6, 9-1, 9-7 win over Aakash Kutty.

Jiandani ignored the loss of the opening two games and endured a strong challenge in the third and fifth games to escape to victory.

Other significant second round winners were Kunj Rawani, Ness Billimoria, Caran Arora, Rahil Fazalbhoy and Aakash Borwankar.

In a boys under-11 tie that went the distance. Siddharth Singh battled hard before beating Aditya Advani 9-6, 9-2, 3-9, 4-9, 9-4.
