ESPN STAR Sports grab Afro-Asia Cup telecast rights

Kuala Lumpur, May 31 (UNI) The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) today awarded the worldwide telecasting rights for of the next months Afro-Asia Cup in India to leading sports broadcaster ESPN STAR Sports.

The rights for the three-match ODI series between the Asia's top cricketers and their African counterparts, were previoulsly with with Nimbus, but the contact was later cancelled due to Nimbus' non-fulfillment of contractual obligations, a release stated.

Announcing the decision, CEO of ACC Syed Ashraful Huq, said, ''We're extremely pleased to extend our relationship with ESPN STAR Sports with the forthcoming edition of the Afro-Asia Cup.

The second edition of the Afro-Asia Cup in India will definitely be a treat for cricket fans across the world.'' The 100,000 dollars prize-money tournament will start with three limited overs matches in Bangalore from June 6.

Apart from next month's Afro-Asia Cup, ESPN STAR Sports also has the exclusive telecast rights for the next year's Asia Cup to be played in Pakistan as well as the coveted ICC's global telecast and marketing rights until 2015.
