Espanyol striker Tamudo replaces Villa in Spain squad

MADRID, Oct 8 (Reuters) Espanyol striker Raul Tamudo was called up to the Spain squad by coach Luis Aragones today for their Euro 2008 qualifier against Denmark on October. 13.

The 29-year-old comes in to replace David Villa, who pulled out of the squad after suffering an ankle injury during Valencia's 2-1 defeat to Espanyol on the weekend.

Tamudo, who has won nine caps and scored four goals for Spain, last featured in a World Cup qualifier against Serbia&Montenegro in Sept. 2005.

Spain are second in Group F, level on 19 points with leaders Sweden who have played a game less. Northern Ireland are third with 16 points and Denmark, who have a game in hand, are fourth with 14.

Spain play Denmark in Aarhus on Saturday and face Finland away in a friendly next week.
