ESC reviews security aspects of Commonwealth Games

New Delhi, June 21 (UNI) The Empowered Security Committee (ESC) today reviewed the security aspects of the 2010 Commonwealth Games to be held here.

The meeting chaired by Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta, has almost finalised a security plan for the Games and decided to step up coordination among concerned departments.

This was the third meeting of the ESC. The last meeting of the committee was held in December last year.

ESC was formed in July 2006. Its members are: Secretaries in the Ministries of Youth and Sports, Health and family welfare, Defence and Urban Development, Director of Intelligence Bureau, Directors General of CRPF and CISF, Chief Secretaries of NCT Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

Concerned Ministeries and Departments and representatives of Security Agencies attended the meeting, a Home Ministry spokesman said.
