England's debutant hero Trott reveals his Aussie connection

London, Aug 23(ANI): England's debutant batsman Jonathan Trott, who scored 119 runs in the second innings of the fifth and final Ashes Test match at The Oval, is related to a former Australian Test batsman, who played at the turn of the 19th century.

Trott is related to Albert Trott, who played for both Australia and England and once managed to hit the ball over the Lord's pavilion.

Though Trott is not sure about his relation with 'Albatrott', his grandfather has claimed the connection.

"You would have to speak to my grandad, he would be able to tell you. My grandad told me - you should give him a ring," The Daily Telegraph quoted Trott, as saying.

Trott said that he has helped his adopted England have a chance of winning back the Ashes.

"I would like to think I have contributed to a successful side. It's a satisfying feeling," he added.

During his innings of 119, Trott became the 18th "Englishman" to score a century on Test debut and the first since Graham Thorpe in 1993 to do so against Australia. (ANI)
