Elvis eyes record with 26-hour swimming inside pool

Guwahati, Aug 28 (UNI) Former national champion Elvis Ali Hazarika has plunged in a pool aiming a non-stop swimming for 26 hours.

Braving inclement weather, he embarked on his mission last night and continued to swim inside the B P Chaliha pool of Nehru Stadium Sports Complex till this report was filed.

His family members and doctors were also watching him as he had been shuttling the 50-meter pool.

Elvis is scheduled to swim around 62 kilometer during the period- a little short of the English Channel that he is eyeing next year.

''Though he has developed back pain and slowed down considerably, his struggle is on '' the attending doctors said.

His plan is to swim till 2200 hours tonight.
