DSP attacks national athletics championship venue, 7 injured

Jamshedpur, Sep 1 (UNI) Seven people, including a policeman, sustained injuries when a sports official and Deputy Superintendent of Police and his supporters attacked the venue of 20th national junior inter zonal athletics championship in the JRD sports complex here today.

DSP (police control room) Dinesh Oraon told UNI that former secretary Bihar Athletics Association and DSP of Jharkhand Armed Police Arif Imam along with his son and some other supporters damaged the car of Jharkhand athletics association secretary Budhwa Oraon.

During the incident, seven people, including some sports officials and a police personnel were injured. Mr Imam and his son were arrested.

Meanwhile, JAA president Madhukant Pathak alleged that Mr Imam, his son and more than 50 henchmen armed with daggers, swords and other lethal weapons entered the venue and attacked the sports officials. However, no participant was injured in the incident.
