Double glory for Narain Shankar
Chennai, Apr 21 (UNI) Narain Shankar driving for team Rams Racing gave himself a rousing start in the championship achieving a fine double, winning the first two races of the second JK Tyre Junior Racing Cup 2007 which was flagged off at the Madras Motor Sports Club (MMSC) track at Irungattukottai near here today.
In the first race, pole leader Narain coasted to a comfortable win after getting off to a booming start in the eight lap race. Narain went on to build up a very impressive lead and finished almost 15 seconds ahead of his nearest rival from Bangalore but his team mate Sudarshan Rao. While Sudarshan finished in second place, Delhi racer Rohit Khanna from Team Wallace Sports, took the third place. Narain had the fastest lap timing of 01:14:851.
The second race saw another good show from Narain. He was again capitalised on a very good start form pole positon to register another convincing win. Another Delhi boy Nishchay from Team Wallce Sports finished second despite starting sixth in the grid.
Sudarshan Rao, however, staring in second place, fell back and finished sixth. Narain had the fastest lap timing of 01:14:287 in his second effort.
Racers from Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kerala and Chennai were seen in action today.
