'Double-bogey' Jeev stumble; Jyoti, Shiv miss cut in Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur, Feb 10 (UNI) SSP Chowrasia and Amandeep Johl carded an identical one-under 71 to jump ten places to tied 22 after Jeev Milkha Singh double-bogeyed his way to nosedive 30 places down the leaderboard on a disappointing day for the Indians at the end of the third round of Maybank Malaysian Open here.
Two other Indians in the fray, Jyoti Randhawa and Shiv Kapur failed to make the cut at the 1.3 million dollar event.
Jeev, who was tied 12th yesterday after lightning disrupted play at the Saujana Golf and Country Club, carded a shocking four-over 76 to be tied 42th alongwith compatriot Gaurav Ghei.
The UBS Asian Order of Merit winner had a lapse of concentration and did not live up to his billing as he dropped sucessive double bogeys on the 10th and 11th holes, and in the process blew away any chance of a top-five finish.
It seems SSP Chowrasia and Amandeep Johl cannot have enough of each other as they both climbed from tied 32 to tied 22 to finish on identical tally of one-under 215.
While Amandeep sank in four birdies and three bogeys, Chowrasia got lucky on the fourth, seventh and ninth holes but dropped shots on the 10th and 14th holes.
Although Jeev enjoyed a bogey-free front nine, he sank in two bogeys and two double bogeys on the back nine to end on a poor two-over 218 score.
Meanwhile, Higley Marcus of England and Argentine Ricardo Gonzalez dethroned Thailand's Chinarat Phadungsil at the top to end on an enviable seven-under 209.
