Dogra demands govt support for India''s body building team

Vadodara, Jan 31 (PTI) Former world champion in bodybuilding and general secretary of the Indian Body BuildersFederation (IBBF), Prem Chand Dogra has demanded that theUnion government sponsor the participation of the Indian teamin the forthcoming Mr Universe Championship.

Talking to PTI here today, Dogra said, "Why thegovernment of India does not recognise body building as asport activity."

Body building is getting recognition at both national andinternational level and more and more people are joining thisupcoming area as a profession, he added.

Dogra demanded that the Union government sponsor theIndian team for the Mr Universe competition, to be held inMiami, US in June.

Dogra was in the city for the third senior Mr India 2011body building championship organised at the Gujarat PublicSchool in Kalali in which 240 body builders from 27 statestook part.
