Discovery Channel to launch 'Ultimate Olympics' series

Bangalore, June 26 (UNI) Discovery Channel will launch China's preparedness for Olympics 2008 in Beijing in a four part series 'Ultimate Olympics', beginning from July 14.

''The weekly episode of 60 minutes each will present astonishing stories of how China, with more than a billion population, is gearing up for the spectacular event,'' Discovery Networks India Director (Marketing) Rajiv Bakshi told newspersons here today.

Stating that each episode would be informative, he said it would take a look at the innovation, endeavour and commitment that China and its athletes were pouring into hosting and participating in the world's biggest sporting event. ''The series draws a portrait of a city and a nation undergoing extreme makeover and would highlight their high-tech athletic preparation, construction of innovative and friendly infrastructure and use of science and technology to combat foreseeable challenges.'' He said 'Ultimate Olympics' goes behind closed doors to meet Olympic hopefuls and study their round-the-clock preparation, strengthened by an army of sports scientists and coaches.
