Dipika only third Indian in top 100: SRFI clarifies
Chennai, May 10 (UNI) The Squash Rackets Federation of India (SRFI) today clarified that Dipika Pallikali was only the third Indian and not the second to break into the top 100 of the world professional rankings as reported in the media.
''The statement that Dipika is the second Indian to break into the top 100 is incorrect, SRFI secretary General N Ramachandran clarified in a press release here, pointing out that in March 1995, Misha Grewal, who was a WISPA member, gained her highest position of 27 in the rankings.
Ms Joshna Chinnappa was currently ranked 41 in the WISPA ranking, Mr Ramachandran said, adding the clarification was being issued as Misha Grewal's achievement of an Indian player's best ranking of 27 in WISPA ''should not go unnoticed or forgotten''.
