Digvijay Singh soars to tied 5th, Gangjee tied for 7th in Pak Open

Karachi, Jan 20 (UNI) Riding on his soaring form, Digvijay Singh turned in a blemish- free card of six-under 66 to leapfrog to the tied fifth place after the penultimate round in the 300,000 dollar Pakistan Open here today.

Digvijay, who had opened with a round of 71 and carded 69 in the second round, came up with a sparkling show at the Karachi Golf Club and three birdies each on either nine took his three-day tally to 10-under 206.

Compatriot Rahil Gangjee had a round of 69 to be tied for seventh at nine-under 207. After a front nine where two dropped shots in the last two holes undid the good work, Gangjee fired four birdies but again dropped a shot in the final hole to finish with a round of 69.

Malaysian Airil Rizman Zahari produced a stunning eight-under 64 to soar to the lead at 17-under 199 to open up a three-shot lead over the Simon Hurd-Scott Hend duo.

Among other Indians in the fray, Ashok Kumar carded one-under 71 to be tied ninth at eight-under 208, followed by Amandeep Johl (209) at tied 12th, Gaganjeet Bhullar and Amardeep Malik (210) at tied 16th, Uttam Singh Mundy and SSP Chowrasia (211) sharing the 21st place, Vivek Bhandari (214) at tied 44th and Rahul Ganapthy (220) way down at tied 68th.
