Digvijay, Namita and Jaanesh top seeds in AITA

Chandigarh, Apr 22 (UNI) With the withdrawal of top ranked K Pradeep Reddy of Andhra Pradesh, Digvijay Singh Mehta of Himachal Pradesh has been topseeded in the boys under-14 as well as under-16 singles in the AITA Championship Series which begins tomorrow at the CLTA Tennis Stadium in Sector 10 here.

Reddy did not report at the time of signing in today. According to AITA rankings, Reddy was the highest ranked (49th, with 66 points) player in the under-16 singles. Digvijay is ranked 52nd with 64.25 AITA points.

Reddy's ranking in the boys u-14 singles is 12th with 184.25 points. With Reddy absent at the time of signing-in, Digvijay Mehta, ranked 25th with 132 AITA points got the pride of place.

Mehta will begin his campaign with his first-round match against Manish Kumar of Delhi.

Second seed Maninder Singh of Haryana (30th, 94.5 points) has been drawn to meet qualifier Tshan Gupta of Chandigarh in the first round fixture. Ajay Yadav (Chd), Sidhant Deka (Assam) have been seeded third and fourth, respectively.

Namita Bal of Maharashtra has been given top billing with AITA ranking of 24th as she has accumulated 138.5 points. Saumya Singh of Delhi(33rd, 104 points) and Tarranium Handa of Chandigarh (37th, 82.5 pts) have been seeded second and third, respectively.
