Di Luca cleared of doping by Italian judge, team says
AUTUN, France, July 12 (Reuters) Giro d'Italia winner Danilo Di Luca has been cleared of any doping offence by a public prosecutor in Italy, his team Liquigas said today.
''Danilo Di Luca will not be called upon to answer any charges in the 'Oil for Drugs' enquiry. The Giro d'Italia winner's case has actually been dismissed by the examining judge of Pescara,'' the statement read.
Di Luca's case still has to be heard by the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) on Saturday.
The Italian is due to appear before CONI's anti-doping committee to answer questions relating to a four-year police probe into Italian doctor Carlo Santuccione, who is alleged to have supplied athletes with doping products.
